What Happens During A Homeopathic Consultation?
Homeopathy treats the unwell person rather than the disease, It is not habit-forming, nor does it cause side effects!
During your first consultation (60-90 minutes) at ‘My Health Sanctuary’, I want to find out more about you, your feelings, your health symptoms & generally what makes you tick! From this information I am able to create a picture of you as a whole person. A bit like putting a jig saw puzzle together!
Once I have found this picture I then consult a ‘Materia Medica’ (a book containing hundreds of Homeopathic Medicines) to find a Homeopathic medicine that is unique for YOU! Because I see you as whole person, (rather than as a carrier of a disease), I may prescribe a different remedy for another patient who may suffer from a similar health issue to yours.
This is because YOU are uniquely YOU!
The Homeopathic medicines I use are made from minute amounts of substances taken from animal, vegetable, chemical & mineral sources.
Even substances which in their natural states have little or no obvious effect upon the human body (i.e. s&, charcoal, common salt, etc.) develop powerful healing properties when matched with the right patient & after being diluted & potentized
How are Homeopathic Medicines proven to work?
‘Provings’ or the testing of Homeopathic medicines is always done on healthy adult people. All reactions from both the ‘provers’ & placebo groups are recorded over extended periods of time.
Provings consisted of taking small doses of substances taken from the animal, vegetable & mineral kingdom & carefully noting all the symptoms they produce. Patients suffering from similar symptoms were then treated with these same substances in minute doses, with outstanding results. Hahnemann’s first compilation of provings was published in 1810 as ‘The Organon of Medicine’.
Where is Homeopathy practiced today?
Over the last 200 years, many other doctors & Natural Health Care Practitioners, have continued Hahnemann’s research & work. Today Homeopathy continues to grow & is practiced in hospitals & private clinics all over the world!
What is a Homeopathic Law?
Homeopathy has a number of specific LAWS that govern its use.
The first is the ‘Law of Similars’
This law states that when a pharmacologically active substance is administered to a person in good health, it triggers a series of symptoms but when taken in a very small diluted & energised dose it cures those symptoms in a sick person
How can such a ‘small dose’ work?
Hahnemann discovered that the more the remedy was diluted, the more active & healing it became. He called this method of dilution ‘potentization’ & numbered the potencies to indicate the dilution ratio. This paradox, that a lesser amount could be more effective than a larger dose of the same substance, was disbelieved by the scientific community in Hahnemann’s time. He & his followers were deeply challenged, but homeopathy survived & continued to grow because it achieves such remarkable results.
The History Of Homeopathy
Dr Samuel Hahnemann’s contribution
Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) of Germany was the founder of Homeopathy. He was a medically trained doctor & linguist. Whilst translating the writings of a Scottish doctor, Dr Cullen. Dr. Hahnemann was drawn to an article discussing quinine. In this he discovered what he believed to be the key to curing the sick, Hahnemann wanted to prove Dr. Cullen’s homeopathic theory incorrect. During his studies of these works Dr. Hahnemann learned that if you take large amounts of Chinchona bark (from which quinine is taken) a fever attack would occur. He then realized that when Quinine was prescribed in small doses, a patient suffering from fever attacks would be cured!
Thus, inadvertently, Dr. Hahnemann became a believer of the theory he had set out to disprove!
Dr. Hahnemann continued to experiment & was able to verify that the reaction he observed with Quinine could be repeated with other substances. Hahnemann told others of his discovery & they joined him in experiments called ‘Provings’.
Since Hahnemann’s time the scientific basis for Homeopathy has been both enlarged & refined & is accepted globally as the basis for a valid form of medicine. It is now the topic of much research by quantum physics. Here in our modern world we have been able to scientifically verify the validity of Homeopathy.
